For hair removal, three wavelengths matter most. 755nm is absorbed most strongly by melanin, so it clears fine, light hair on light skin fastest. 808nm is the diode workhorse, deep enough for most skin types. 1064nm is safest for darker skin because it bypasses epidermal melanin. Nd:YAG (1064nm). The safe route for darker skin. Slower and less comfortable without strong cooling, but it is the right tool when your client list is Fitzpatrick IV through VI. It is often bought as a second machine rather than a first.
